Volume 2014/2015
Education
MSc Programme in Human Biology - compulsory
Content

Statistics for human biologists. The course participants will be
introduced to the fundamentals of statistical reasoning. They will
learn how to apply appropriate statistical methods for common
laboratory experiments, clinical trials and observational studies.
During the course the student is required to work on a project that is
to be handed in for evaluation at the last course day.

Learning Outcome

At the end of the course, the student shall be able to identify and
execute and report all steps of data management, statistical analysis
and interpretation of results. This includes

  • knowledge: descriptive statistics, p-value, confidence interval, t-test, multiple linear regression, chi-square test, logistic regression
  • skills: data management in R, data analysis in R
  • competencies: evaluating, implementing and reporting statistical models
