NIGK15025U Solid Earth Geophysics (part 2)

Volume 2017/2018
Education

MSc Programme in Geology-Geoscience

Content
  • The course has emphasis on application of geophysical methods to provide information about Earth structure and processes that determine the tectonic and plate tectonic evolution.
  • Reading and presenting in talks and writing the content of  scientific literature.
  • Project work on integrated geophysical interpretation of the lithospheric structure in regional context
  • The teaching is held as seminars with substantial dialogue between the lecturer and students, and a project exercise where geophysical concepts are applied
Learning Outcome

Knowledge:

  • Application of geophysical methods to provide understanding of tectonic and plate tectonic processes
  • Importance of integrated interpretation
  • Relation between structure and composition of the Earth at all scales and the physical processes in the Earth’s interior

Skills:
