Theories, Concepts, and Methods in Global History" is an overview course which explores the transnational past with particular reference to European countries as well as the United States and their entanglements with the Global South. It focuses on perceptions, reactions and relations between different nations. The course considers the phenomenon of globalization itself: how it emerges historically, how it may be defined, and its varied impacts. In addition we introduce students to key concepts, methods and case studies to explore the transnational past and present. The course will incorporate perspectives from sociology, politics, history, cultural and memory studies.
