HTIB00671U Reading Classical Tibetan: Scholastic and Doctrine, and Historical Context

In this seminar we are going to read selected passages of Tibetan literature, mostly scholastic texts and their colophons plus some rnam thar for comprehending their context. Students should be well acquainted with the basics of Classical Tibetan. The aim of this module is at first the grammatical analysis, meticulous translation, and terminological comprehension of the respective passages. Furthermore we will try to develop a critical understanding of the relation between text and its various contexts.
