Content

The course will enable students to develop their own project concerning an archaeological question. Archaeological Material from the EBA/MBA site of Murayghat (pottery, groundstone tools, chipped stone tools) will be available for a technological or typological analysis of the objects, creating 3D models for more detailed analysis, or working on residue analysis in collaboration with the GLOBE Institute.

The course will start with lectures about the different possibilities to engage with the material as well as some historical background. Following this, students will individually or in groups work on their specific project. During the semester active participation requires the production of a project based item, which could be a poster, homepage, video or similar material. The research question/project idea needs to be accepted by the supervisor beforehand.

The exam can only be taken after the described product has been finished and consists of a one-week paper.

The students’ project (poster, video etc.) could either go up on the excavation’s homepage or be shown in the university. A publication of the experiments is also possible, where the students will be credited with the results of their work, or in case or real data production will be co-authors. The students are thus advised to contact the responsible teacher already in December/January
