Content

The course provides students with knowledge of the basic elements of the Japanese language with regards to syntax, grammar, and formal as well as colloquial speech. The course will help students build a basic vocabulary and  enable him/her to communicate in basic Japanese about topics pertaining to everyday life. Japanese Propaedeutics A is an integrated course that offers a mix of lectures and applied exercises comprising grammar, spoken interaction, listening, reading comprehension, writing, and translation exercises at an elementary level.

Propaedeutics A is designed as class teaching and involves individual as well as pair and group working modes. Classes are guided by cooperative and blended learning principles to engage each student at maximum. Students should expect weekly deliverables and 2-4 hours of self-studies before and before classes.
