Content

The module is targeted at students who want to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies in strategic communication. These competencies are central to communication staff in different types of organizations such as an NGO, a private company, a member organization, a political party or a public sector organization. The module consists of an introduction to theories of strategic and practical communication and organizational analysis and will result in the preparation of communication campaigns and other limited communication efforts with strategic purposes. Among topics covered: crisis communication, organizational communication, communication and change, stakeholders, content strategies, social media, online communication, media and media choice, cross-media, transmedia, storytelling and strategic writing, visual communication, branding, etc. Throughout the course, the students work with self-selected cases and concrete analyzes of communication efforts and campaigns.

The number of participants is a maximum of 30 students.

Learning Outcome

At the examination, the student is able to demonstrate:

Knowledge and understanding of:

 strategic planning

 organisational analysis

 design of communication campaigns

 cross-media communications.

Skills to:

design communication campaigns and other strategic communication activities

design and convey digital strategic communication strategies

describe and analyse organisational strategies, and the internal and external factors that affect them.

Competencies to:

use and evaluate forms of analysis, methods, and theories suitable for communication strategies

devise relevant communication initiatives to address a specific pro-lem identified in the strategic analysis

prepare and deliver a convincing oral presentation

plan an appropriate method for evaluating and following up on initiatives.
