Volume 2016/2017
Education
Engelsk
Content
What happened in the shift from realism to modernism? In what way(s) was English literature 'made new'? What were the important questions that propelled narrative prose and determined its reactions against literary conventions? What were the processes? What were the results?
Literature
In this course we will pursue these questions through a selection of prose texts by Emily Brönte, D.H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Doris Lessing and John Fowles. We may not find unequivocal answers, but we will learn a lot about modern literature in the process of enquiry.
