A field study or academic internship is a unique opportunity if you would like to bring your competences into play and try out your skills at a workplace. This can give you new perspectives on your course of studies and make you more aware of your specific professional strengths and qualities, thereby strengthening your career profile and your CV.
Many elements must be in place in order for you to get the most out of your stay. You are recommended to follow these steps in the planning phase:
- Participate in the preparation meeting for internship and field study
- Decide if you will do internship or field study or both
- Contact the Student Councellors for formal requirements
- Contact the teachers at Centre of African Studies for inspiration
- Start searching for placement, writing applications and planning your stay
- Register via the self service in the course registration period
- find information about the rules and framework for the process on Study Information KU-net Master in African Studies - KUnet & Master in African Studies - KUnet
An internship or field study can take place in Denmark or
abroad in:
• Larger and smaller companies
• Organizations
• NGOs
• Embassies, EU Parliament and Trade Offices
Most often, a stay lasts 3-6 months, but it will be up to you to decide the length of stay with the host for your stay. In order to be credit-earning, an internship or field study must have a duration of either 9- 15 weeks for 15 ECTS points or 20 - 26 weeks for 30 ECTS points.
If you have registered for more than the mandatory 30 ECTS in courses in the first and second semester, you may complete an internship or field study for 15 ECTS regardless of whether the duration is more than 15 weeks in the third semester.
