MSc Programme in Mathematics
MSc Programme in Mathematics with a minor subject
MSc Programme in Physics
Selected topics in Quantum Mechanics and Statistical Mechanics. Besides fundamental issues the course will focus on more specialized topics depending on the interests and preferences of the participants. Among these topics may be a selection from the following list: spectral theory for unbounded operators, the Schrödinger equation and Stone's theorem, perturbation theory, scattering theory, stability of matter; quantum information theory, many-body systems, and statistical mechanics.
Knowledge:
- Basic concepts and methods used int the mathematical
description of quantum systems and/or statistical mechanics.
Explicit mathematical models of concrete physical systems in
quantum and/or statstical mechanics
Skills:
- To use advanced mathematical tools to extract relevant physical information from well-defined models To do explicit calculations within the framework of advanced mathematical models
Competencies:
- To formulate, understand, and analyze mathematical models of physical systems
