Content

The course will give an  introduction to green and sustainable chemistry. This will be done by lectures and mandatory student paper presentation. Topics will include:

  • Atom economy
  • Wastemanagement and Prevention
  • Measuring and Controlling Environmental Performance
  • Green catalysis and green solvents
  • Renewable Resources
  • Emerging Greener Technologies and Alternative Energy Sources
  • Designing Greener Processes
Learning Outcome

The student is expected to aquire:

Knowledge
Obtain knowledge of green and sustainable chemistry as described in the course content i.e. Atom economy, Wastemanagement and Prevention
Measuring and Controlling Environmental Performance, Green catalysis and green solvents, Renewable Resources, Emerging Greener Technologies and Alternative Energy Sources and Designing Greener Processes

Skills
To be able to read, understand and analyze a scientic paper within the field of sustainable chemistry

Competencies
To be able to present a scientic paper in sustainable chemistry in an understandable manner and to be able to discuss critically
