Det italienske forløb:

Kurset består af to parallelle forløb om Italiens kultur før 1900. Dels inden for historie/politik og dels inden for litteratur/kultur. 

I den litteraturhistoriske del slår vi ned på væsentlige begivenheder, strømninger og værker fra og med 1300-tallet, hvor litteratur på italiensk grundlægges, til og med 1800-tallet. I efteråret 2023 vil første del af litteraturhistorieforløbet fokusere på Dante Alighieris Guddommelige Komedie. Anden del vil fokusere på 1800-tallet hvor Italien er præget af Risorgimento-bevægelsen, der fører til samlingen af landet som national stat i 1861. Kurset giver viden om forudsætningerne for opbygning af en italiensk nationalstat og national kultur, og viden om grundlæggende temaer og stilretninger inden for litteratur.

Fælles forelæsning med fransk, tysk og spansk:

Fællesforelæsningen Kultur 3 fokusserer på transkulturelle og fælles-europæiske strømninger før 1900 med særlig fokus på litteratur. Med udgangspunkt i konkrete temaer viser forelæsningerne hvordan nye ideer, samfundsmæssige udviklinger og historiske begivenheder vinder genklang i litteraturen fra den før-moderne verden til idag. Kurset vil formidle færdigheder i at forstå sammenhængen mellem nationale literaturhistorier og transkulturelle strømninger, der påvirkede kunstneriske udtryksformer på tværs af landegrænser. Den sidste del af kurset trækker linjer til nutiden ved at vise hvordan visse træk af den før-nationale verdensorden vender tilbage i form af transnationale udviklinger i globaliseringens tidsalder. Gennemgangen af de enkelte emner introducerer samtidig til forskellige teoretiske og metodiske tilgange til litteraturvidenskabelig og historisk analyse. Desuden vil fællesforelæsningerne introducere til videnskabsteori ud fra en historiografisk og literaturvidenskabligt tilgang.

Il corso fornirà agli studenti un'introduzione ad alcuni dei principali autori e dei principali testi della letteratura volgare italiana, coprendo il periodo che va dalle prime testimonianze scritte fino alla fine dell'Ottocento. Uno specifico focus tematico sarà dedicato alla biografia e alla produzione letteraria dei cosiddetti 'Tre Corone' (Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca e Giovanni Boccaccio), al loro ruolo nel plasmare l'idea di una letteratura italiana, e all’interpretazione della loro opera in epoche successive, e in particolare da tre autori chiave del Settecento e dell'Ottocento, ovvero Ugo Foscolo, Giacomo Leopardi, Alessandro Manzoni.

Metodologicamente, il corso dedicherà specifica attenzione, da un lato, all'approccio diretto ai testi, favorendone la lettura in italiano e la traduzione di prima mano; inoltre, la spiegazione della produzione e ricezione di un certo autore sarà sempre fatta citando ed esaminando, prevalentemente virtualmente, i manoscritti e le edizioni a stampa più importanti che contenevano il testo in questione. Questo approccio orientato ai materiali sarà rafforzato da una o due visite alla Biblioteca Reale, per esaminare manoscritti e libri stampati delle loro collezioni.

This course will provide students with an introduction to some of the main authors and of the main texts in Italian vernacular literature, covering the period which spans from the earliest written witnesses until the end of the 19th century. 

A specific thematic focus will be dedicated to the biography and the literary production of the so-called ‘Tre Corone’ (Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca, and Giovanni Boccaccio), to their role in shaping the idea of an Italian literature, and to the interpretation of their work in later periods, and particularly by thee key authors of the 18th and 19th centuries, i.e. Ugo Foscolo, Giacomo Leopardi, Alessandro Manzoni. 

Methodologically, the course will dedicate specific attention, on the one hand, to the direct approach to the texts, encouraging their reading in Italian and their first-hand translation; furthermore, the explanation of the production and reception of a certain author will always be done through a specific angle, i.e. mentioning and examining, mainly virtually, the most important manuscripts and printed editions which contained the text in question. This material-oriented approach will be strengthened by one or two visits at the Royal Library, to examine relevant manuscripts and printed books from their collections.
