Content

Academic literacy skills form an important part of the teaching of English as a foreign language in the Danish educational system. Therefore, the course addresses theoretical models of reading and writing processes and assessment methods, as well as empirical studies that investigate these processes and methods in relation to foreign language teaching and learning. Alongside the cognitive and the social dimensions of literacy development, the course covers recent discussions on the emerging role of digital technologies, especially AI, in reading and writing and their implications for our understanding of academic literacy.
