This course introduces population issues, concepts, theories and typical methods by encompassing the fields of demography, sociology, and economics. It provides an overview of various aspects of demographic dynamics in fertility, migration, aging, education, family and household structure, health and mortality. This course also examines the relationship between population and development, and their potential consequences from sociological, economic and geographical perspectives.
Students are equipped fundamental knowledge and theories about population processes and their relationship with development.
Students are able to perform basic demographic analysis to understand some social and demographic issues.
Students are aware of the importance of demographic perspective in understanding social phenomena.
Up to 700 pages of literature.
- Exam Preparation
Student and teacher feedback will be built into the exercises. This will both take paces as peer feedback in smaller groups as well as presentations for class where the professor will give direct feedback
Registration deadline for courses is:
June 1st for Autumn semester
December 1st for Spring semester.
