This course addresses the questions of globalization and development in South Asia. We will explore intersecting themes of capitalism, labour and migratory flows in order to understand the logics of economic growth, global development regimes and how poverty and wealth is produced in the contemporary world. These questions will be examined from South Asia with a particular emphasis on the axes of class, caste and gender upon which the ongoing transformations are taking shape..
