The P0-project is an introduction project work. The purpose is to introduce aspects of the problem based learning tradition with focus on qualifying problem analysis and problem formulation of the project problem.

P0 will serve as an exercise in defining and writing a project in groups using the problem based learning tools introduced by lectures and texts. The groups for the P0 project will be predefined. The P0 has a twofold purpose – first to work with identifying a problem and working with the qualification of this in a welfare framework attempting to use the integrated approach in the education. And second to work with the problem based learning tools and approaches.

These two purposes will together give the students an opportunity to reflect the IFS visions and challenges and thereby also work with the future opportunities in creating and reflecting the candidate jobs.

 

Learning Outcome

Students who pass the P0 will have qualifications as follows

Knowledge and understanding

  • Should have knowledge of the problem based learning formulation process (defining a problem, problem analysis and problem formulation).
  • Should have knowledge of the group work process and the tools to ensure a food problem based learning process.
  • Should have basic knowledge of the three different approaches involved in the IFS master.
  • Should be able to perform a problem analysis of an IFS relevant topic

 

Skills

  • Should be able to state the choice of problem formulation.
  • Should be able to identify the three research areas (PHN, Network & Innovation and Design) related to the IFS profile.

 

Competences

  • Should be able to demonstrate a group presentation.
  • Should be able to explain the group process and the process with the project report.
  • Should be able to summarise the learning process from project formulation to final outcome.

It is recommended that students have knowledge of public health nutrition, sociology of food and /or food science.
The teaching will be a combination of lectures, and field studies and a group work where groups will be asked to identify a problem when observing and studying selected welfare institutions look at this from different approaches represented in the IFS education. The group work result in a presentation of in plenum of the results. In addition an individual paper reflecting over the group work process must be produced during the course.

Written assignment
The introductory project will be assessed through an individual paper (3-4 pages) reflecting over the group work process and presenting results of the field work. The paper is written during the course and submitted at the end of the course.

Re-exam

Similar to ordinary exam. If the student did not pass the ordinary exam, a new reflection paper must be handed in two weeks prior to the reeksam.
