Curriculum for the elective studies in the History of Ancient Egypt, 2007
The objective of the course is to enable students to translate Middle Egyptian texts from different genres; to teach them to think critically about modern translations of Middle Egyptian texts, and to provide them with an overview of genres and genre conventions in Middle Egyptian texts, as well as an understanding of the role of genre in ancient Egyptian literary culture. Teaching consists of text-reading classes incorporating a selection of royal inscriptions, private inscriptions, narratives, wisdom texts, letters, legal texts, medical texts and religious texts.
