HTÆK00076U Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Cross-Cultural Heritage
Students of all subjects with an interest in Cultural Heritage
This course provides critical interdisciplinary perspectives on cultural heritage from a broad constellation of researchers in the Department of Cross-cultural and Regional studies at the University of Copenhagen. It explores some of the many perceptions of what cultural heritage might mean to different groups and individuals in different cultural contexts. We will approach the subject from theoretical and practical angles and gain an overview of the literature concerned with cultural heritage as well as the issues of concern to practitioners in different fields – from museums and sites and the institutions linked to them (ICOM, UNESCO) to NGOs such as Blue Shields.
This course is available on a BA or MA level and is taught as an interactive seminar class. It includes a strong focus on fieldtrips to museums and other locations in Copenhagen. Students will develop their own projects involving their chosen fieldwork components with the support of a member of the teaching staff.
