Volume 2015/2016
Education

MSc Programme in Biology

Content

An introduction to the Danish natural terrestrial habitats and their preconditions. Methods for describing groups of organisms (e.g. plants, fungi, beetles) and vegetation structure, deadwood and soil conditions as indicators.

Learning Outcome

To give students an overview of Danish terrestrial habitats, their ecology and their organisms (plants, animals, fungi). To practice description and characterization of locations using essential ecological parameters and appropriate groups of organisms.

After the course the student can:

Knowledge:

  • define the most important Danish natural terrestrial habitats, and account for their history
  • regognize the most important Danish habitats from their organism composition (plants, animals, fungi)

Skills:

  • identify which taxa are relevant to characterize a particular habitat
  • identify and apply relevant identificatoin literature for relevant groups of organisms

Competences:

  • communicate basic functional/ecological aspects of the main Danish natural habitats
