Content

This class concerns the archaeological remains of the largest country in Africa. Chronologically, the course begins in the early 3rd millennium BC, and ends in the colonial period. Thematically, we will discuss issues such as colonialism and entanglement, ethnicity, cultural change and continuity, iconography, aesthetics and resistance.  The course will particularly compliment any previous study of the archaeology or history of Ancient Egypt or Africa.
