HIOK03491U CANCELED - Specialization: The Hard to Quantify World (or What’s in Statistics for You?)
Volume 2015/2016
Education
IT & Cognition
Content
I am an engineer. I don’t believe in engineering. I believe in the Humanities. I also believe in good statistics. Generally, the Humanities don’t believe in statistics, neither good nor bad. This course teaches the distinction between good and bad statistics, argues that the Humanities CAN change the world for the better - with a little help from statistics. However, statistics is hard, and fallacies are many. This course teaches students the value of the Humanities, to critically review statistical analyses, but also questions whether there is (really) things you cannot (or should not try to) quantify.
