HENA03823U English - Free topic: Body and Text: Redefining the Subject in Postcolonial Fiction - CANCELED

Volume 2014/2015
Content
THIS COURSE IS CANCELED!
In this course we will study the trope of the body and the function of voice in a selection of postcolonial fiction. Much postcolonial writing is concerned with the reintegration of the exiled self into the lost body, a process in which psychic re-memberment is crucial. The destabilised and fragmented subject encountered in such writings will be studied from feminist, poststructuralist and postcolonial perspectives and we will discuss literature from across the postcolonial world – from the Caribbean to the Pacific – in the attempt to define the ’corporeality’ of the postcolonial narrative.
