ASOA05057U Understanding gender and organizations - Please note that this course is closed for further registrations
This course will address gender, organization, work and leadership, mainly in a 'Western context. This research field has expanded and matured the last decades. However, with regard to gender equality much remains the same. Most organizations remain gendered. The course will address the continuous division of labour, hierarchically and horizontally in an ambiguous and paradoxical world.
The purpose of this course is to provide students with understanding of some of the relevant theories and research within the area of gender, work and organizations. We will discuss in what sense it is relevant to talk about organizations as gendered, what is gender, when are we 'doing’ or ’undoing’ gender and why is a gender perspective relevant for studying organizations and for understanding the continuous gender division of labour.
