NSCPHD1203 Cross-disciplinary Summer Course on Originality in Science - Personal Perspectives and Collaborative Strategies (generic course)

Volume 2013/2014
Everyone will need to complete a questionnaire (including the suggestion of a relevant inspiring article) and prepare a 3-minute talk on a concept to be elected by each person. Upon registration, every student will be contacted for a 10-minute phone conversation to assess expectations and support the student in preparing the material to be send by the 14th of June. Everyone is expected to have read the compendium (sent by the beginning of June) by the course start. During the course, which relies on active participation, all participants will briefly present a theme (individually or in groups) and work together in the creation of a common report/wiki/meta-resource.

Students are expected to contribute with an assignment relating the theme of the course to their PhD to be started before the course, and finished during the week. In particular, Thursday will be a lecture-free day and fully dedicated to working on the assignment.
At this course there is the awareness that we learn in different ways, and tend to create our own set of individual and collaborative practices. So, there will be a mixture of space for peer-to-peer learning and inspiration from experienced researchers.
