NSCPHD1083 GWAS and QTL mapping in plants

Volume 2013/2014
Education
For participants from private companies, we ask for a contribution of 3.500 DKK per student.
Content

The course provides insight into the genetic and theoretical background of linkage mapping, association mapping and the detection of Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL´s) in plants, based on segregating populations and association mapping.

The course gives you the theoretical basis (as far as necessary) and the hands-on experience within the following areas:

Most common genetic marker system
Construction of genetic maps (linkage and physical).
Association (marker x marker, and marker x trait)
QTL mapping (single marker and interval mapping)
GWAS (populations structure, association analysis)
Candidate genes and causal variants (reverse genetics, KO, silencing, metabolomics, biosynthetic pathways), synteni between genomes

All these methods will relate to plants.

Mixture of lectures, theoretical exercises and hands-on exercises with 'production-level' computer software.
