NSCPHD1064 Neutrinos underground & in the heavens
Neutrinos underground & in the heavens
This course will focus on three main topics:
1) Theory and phenomenology of neutrinos
2) Experimental methods for neutrino detection
3) Astrophysical and cosmological aspects of neutrinos
The course is aimed at both theorists and experimentalists. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the present rich landscape of neutrino physics so the students can recognize underlying connections with deep issues (e.g. flavour problem) in particle theory, understand the context for frontier experiments seeking to unravel the nature of the neutrino, and furthermore appreciate the synergy with astroparticle observations. This would in general benefit all who wish to gain an overall view of this exciting area connecting theory and experiment, particle physics and astrophysics, and be especially valuable for those intending to undertake either experimental or theoretical research in neutrino physics.
