NDAK13003U Project with Companies - Solving Challenges in a Real Company
Volume 2013/2014
Education
MSc Programme in Computer
Science
Content
The Companies will
present various cases, which the students will base their projects
on. The students will then employ their academic skills to present
solutions within the framework of the cases. The students will have
great latitude in the construction of the specific
questions/challenge to be studied within the cases.
The methods and theories used will reflect the specific
questions/challenge selected. The students should end up with a
solution useful for the company, and the solution be presented as a
product in the form of text, prototype, or powerpoint. During the
course the students will also write a report. The report should
among other things includes a description of the problem selected,
literature used to understand the problem and create the solution,
tools and information given by the company and used for the
solution, evaluation of the solution using relevant parameters,
which could be reliability, stability, manageability, usefulness,
etc.
Learning Outcome
Knowledge: The students
will achieve domain knowledge about the specific problem studied,
both from an academic perspective and industrial perspective.
Competence: The students will to a certain extend have built competences inherent the skills described below, but also to a certain extend and more general, be more efficiently productive in a real working environment outside the academic world.
Skills: The students will be more able to apply their achieved academic skills at a ”real” problems, including scoping extent of a solution to a rather open problem to be finish in time, balancing ambition versus time available, more focus on producing something for being used, than something for just learning etc.

Literature
The reading will consist of
data from the company and materials handed out by the teachers
relevant to the selected cases.
Academic qualifications
Bachelor degree in
Computer Science or similar.
Teaching and learning methods
The students will be
introduced to the companies as well as information and tools to the
cases. The students will hereafter formulate a problem and for the
rest of the course work with this problem. There will be continuous
dialog with the companies and teachers.
