By completing the course the student can:
- Describe and explain a marine biological topic
- Conduct an experimental research project under supervision
- Find relevant literature
- Evaluate methods used
- Process results in a scientific manner
- Document the work done in the form of a scientific paper
Knowledge:
The student can describe and reflect on a given research topic. The student is able to identify methodological problems and can place them in a comprehensive experimental overview.
Skills:
The student will be able to handle some standard equipment for marine biological research and use experimental methods. The student can analyze and explain experimental results and put them into a scientific context.
Competencies:
The student has gained experience working independently with an experimental research project. The student can design, initiate and manage an experimental study. The student can evaluate and put obtained results into a scientific perspective. The student has gained experience working in groups to solve a scientific problem.

Criteria for exam assesment
The student must hand in a well-written report structured as a scientific paper. The student must be able to explain the scientific basis for the experimental project made during the course. The student must be thoroughly conversant with the literature associated with the project. The grade 12 is given for an outstanding report and oral performance demonstrating a comprehensive overview and specific knowledge on all aspects of the project.
