“Globalization” and “modernity” have become buzzwords of our time – terms that describe a variety of changing cultural, ideological, economic, political and environmental processes that allegedly have accelerated and intensified in the last few decades. Within this thematic framework, this course will study a range of issues that reach deeply into the economic, political, cultural, technological and ecological dimensions of contemporary life in Southeast Asia. This course will keep apace with issues that make the headlines in Southeast Asia today!
