This bachelor level course serves as an introduction to some of the founding debates within anthropological and ethnological theory. Through the course, students will acquire knowledge of changing definitions of the concept of culture and society. Additionally, students will learn how to locate currents issues of cultural theory in a broader historical context. The main focus will be on how individuals are formed by society, power and symbolic systems, while they at the same time are reproducing or changing the structures they are given through social practices.
