Content

The course introduces burning issues in contemporary Russian society and culture.

It is divided into three thematic blocks:

  1. 1) political-economic developments, including the Soviet legacy;

2) post-Soviet ideational shifts, i.e. religious and ideological changes;
3) family and gender relations.

It analyses these broad themes from various angles, drawing on historical, ethnographic, anthropological and other approaches.

The course also includes Russian-language sources.
