The aim of the course is to introduce the formation processes of the Arabian Gulf trading centers, in the 18th and 19th centuries, concentrating on the interregional maritime links and their cultural and social systems in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf. Historical sources, ceramics and other cultural material will be used to illustrate the complexity of the topic through the perspective of modern field archaeology.
