Approaches to Archaeology
Nærorientalske old-tidskulturer på bachelorniveau med centralt
fag i
Assyriologi, Nærorientalsk arkæologi eller Ægyptologi, 2015
Tilvalgsstudiet for BA-niveau på i arkoælogiske videnskaber, 2007
The course uses the overview students have gained in the first three semesters and builds on it. The understanding of the archaeology and history of the period between ca. 10000 BCE and 1914 CE will be widened in the course. The course treats approaches to questions such as political organisation, gender studies, landscape archaeology, pottery analysis, art and propaganda etc, and is arranged thematically, however, the students can focus on either Near Eastern archaeology, Egyptian archaeology, or Islamic archaeology. The basic knowledge will be taught in lectures, but the students will prepare for each class to discuss and present the more detailed information about these approaches and topics. This can happen in group discussions and group presentations. At the end of the semester the students will each present a short lecture that will give a specific example of an approach to an archaeological question and material.
