Project management is an important skill for planning and carrying out projects. This course introduces the students to the tasks of project organization and management, with the purpose of providing the students with some basic tools for carrying out own projects, taking the student through the whole process of carrying out a migration-related project. Through a combination of texts and group exercises, we learn about the various phases and stages of project management, especially of planning, administration and evaluation. We will discuss project design according to project type and problem definition, rehearsing some of the quantitative and qualitative methods from module 1. We will furthermore consider questions of estimating resources, time and deliveries that are essential to good project management. The course will give the students the possibility to reflect on and discuss general problematics stemming from their own initial experiences and formulations of projects.

Learning Outcome

The course will provide students with:

                  

  • Knowledge of the planning, administration and evaluation of a migration-related project in all of its phases and stages.

  • Skills in critically analyzing diversity-related dilemmas in the course of the project proposed by a panel of employer representatives, and in developing and communicating suitable solutions

  • Competences in taking responsibility for the co-ordination and administration of a project as well as discipline in operating under time and funding restraints.

Texts will be announced in Absalon in the first week of September.

The module consists of introductory teaching classes of texts and exercises, and a concluding course to discuss processes and results. However, the main part of the course is dedicated to individual supervision with the teacher.
