Content

This course equips the student with thorough knowledge of sociological theory and method as applied to social issues in the modern Middle East. The course introduces key thinkers (e.g. Durkheim, Weber, Bourdieu, Giddens) and key topics in qualitative sociological research within the context of Middle Eastern societies, including social stratification, class, ethnicity, gender, age, urbanization, violence and social institutions such as family and religion.
