Content

The course deal will several aspects of health inequalities, causes, consequences and possible interventions. It will deal will political an ethical aspects of health inequalities. Furthermore, epistemological issues in dealing with health inequalities will be discussed. 

Learning Outcome

The purpose of the course is that the students shall be able to understand health inequalities from different disciplinary perspective and combine these and present them, orally and in written form.

After the course, students should be able to:

Knowledge

  • The students shall be aquainted with descriptions and analyses of social inequalities in health, their causes and consequences, as understood in different disciplines, such as epidemiology, health policy analysis, sociology. 


Skills

  • They shall be able to critically evaluate research performed in different disciplines on aspects of social inequalities in health. They shall be able to evaluate research performed in different disciplines. 


Competencies

  • The students shall be able to use different disciplinary approches in presenting issues related to social inequalities in health, their causes, consequences and the measues taken to reduce them. This includes both using different theories and methods.

 

Collection of articles. 

Students are supposed and recommended to have knowledge of epidemiology, disease prevention, health policy analysis and ethics at BA public health science level.

Portfolio, hele kurset
The portfolio consist of oral presentations, posters and written assignments. The student will have to make some of these in groups and others individually. The final written assignment must be uploaded in Digital Exam for assessment at the date prescribed in the exam schedule.
