MSc in Animal Science - elective study

Content

A project in practice is an individually project-oriented study activity which contents are defined by the nature of the activity or activities undertaken at the project host and as described in the project agreement.

A project in practice must be pre-approved by the course responsible before it is executed.

Weighting: Project report counts 100%
In the final project report the student must demonstrate that he/she can reflect on the use of his/her professional skills in an occupational context, and that he/she can reflect on his/her learning in the process.
The report must be submitted by the end of the block in which the project is completed. It is therefore recommended that the student continuously works on the project report during the period. The size of the report is to be about 15-20 pages.
The report must contain three parts and one abstract:
Part 1: covers the practical framework for the students' project: A description of the company/organization, its purpose (who operate it, what it produced, what are the other objectives), its organization (who makes decisions, management structure, division of labor) and physical environment, and a description of the specific tasks or activities in which the student has been engaged during the process.
Part 2: is the academic part in which the student, based on the description of the specific activities and tasks, discusses which parts of the knowledge base, the knowledge of method, he/she brings along to be used in the process. It would also include some consideration of the specific knowledge and specific methods which the student has acquired during the project.
Part 3: the student's personal learning reflection: What has he/she learned (professional knowledge as well as general skills) and how has this learning been acquired (in which situations and contexts), and in what ways does he/she see the acquisitions as a contribution to his/her own professional and personal development.
