Content

The professional and academic worlds are increasingly being projectified and as an academic we are more and more living our worklives through projects. But what are projects - and most importantly what are the project dynamics we need to understand and what are the tools to handle them? The PMP course aims to provide insight into and understanding of project work and project management. It introduces different project participant roles and project management tools. It aims to give participants the ability to handle project management as employees in both private, public and civil sector organisations. As a PMP participant you will walk away with new insights on how to understand and handle stakeholders, how to go about contingencies and risks in projects, how to write a project proposal that are excellent, impactful and implementable, how to organise your project budget and how to evaluate and communicate about your project.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge:

Projects definitions, history of projects, different types of projects, projects in organizational sociology, stakeholder theory analysis and management, theories and concepts of motivation of project members, theories and concepts of project communication as well as theories and concepts of contingency planning.


Skills:
 

PMP provides the student with skills to perform stakeholder analysis & planning, to perform analysis of risks & contingency planning, to perform communication analysis & planning, to be able to write a project implementation plan, how to go about project budgets and to be able to do visual project flow visualization including  milestones and deliverables and GANNT charting.


Competences:

PMP provides the student with basic competencies to plan own projects and to carry out simple projects To be able to analyse, asses and apply methods, tools, theory and data in project management

BSc in geography and geoinformatics or equivalent is recommended.

The written assignment is prepared during the course and must be handed in prior to the exam week. The oral exam uses the written assignment as its point of departure. It includes the titles listed in the officially approved reading list. A combined grade is given after the oral exam.
