Content

This summer school, running from 6th to 17th of August, presents the students with a unique opportunity to try their hand at urban cultural entrepreneurship and social innovation right in the heart of Copenhagen City.

Organized together with Strøm music festival and other local actors, the summer school combines academic theory with hands-on practice, using a specific area of Copenhagen as laboratory for creative and innovative solutions to actual problems or for identifying hidden potentials connected to urban space. This case-based learning approach is underpinned by a do-it-yourself philosophy and a cross-cultural perspective on urban development.

By means of lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials and field trips, students in groups will engage with a range of actors, including cultural practitioners, grassroots activists, social entrepreneurs, municipal authorities and private businesses as well as with urban theorists. Bringing academic knowledge of urban life together with empirical and practical know-how, the students develop their own ideas into project proposals. These proposals, in turn, can inspire entrepreneurship and innovation in the students’ home cities.
