Content

Revising history has been an important tool of self-legitimation for hegemonic regimes and is a central aspect of the emergence of modern nationalism and state building. In the course we shall look at various examples of how the past is mobilized and instrumentalized to control present and future. Case studies will be taken from different geographical locations in Central Asia in different historical periods.
