Content

“Women in Korea” is one of the most popular topics in Korean Studies. Many studies portray women of the past and the present as the victims of society by relying on generalizations and stereotypes. This course therefore aims at providing tools to crack these stereotypes and to approach the topic from a more critical point of view. We will discuss primary sources translated into English written by women, explore discussions on women in Korea and also create computer games as tools to approach the topic. Part of this course is a weekly IT tutorial on computer games.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

  • Cracking stereotypes regarding women in Korea
  • Exploring and applying diverse theories of feminism
  • Creating computer games as learning and teaching tools to approach the topic of women in Korea
