IT & Cognition

Content

The course will focus on cognitive aspects of multimodality, emotions and personality in face-to-face communication and in human-machine interaction. In particular, we will address the cognitive relation between auditory (speech) and visual (body behavior) modalities in face-to-face communication and introduce theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of studying multimodal communication and its application to intelligent human-machine interfaces such as communicative virtual agents. During the course, the students choose a phenomenon to investigate in depth and they will document their work in the exam (written homework).  The format of the class consists of lectures (including guest lectures), hands on and student presentations.
