HENKE2401U English - Free topic A: Second Language Acquisition: Putting Principles into Actions (FLA)
Engelsk
This course delves into the multifaceted world of second language acquisition (SLA) theories, empirical research, and didactic approaches, with the goal of cultivating a deep understanding of the cognitive, psychological, and sociocultural factors influencing language learning. We will discuss language acquisition from a first, foreign, and second language acquisition (SLA) perspective, including theories and research on multilingualism. Expanding upon this foundational knowledge, we will evaluate English curricular guidelines for Gymnasium-level education.
Moving beyond theoretical frameworks, the course integrates practical experiences, including on-site lesson observations in schools, to reflect on SLA theories, research, and current pedagogical practices and challenges.
In hands-on workshops, students will learn to create and refine both unit and lesson plans that consider current and emerging pedagogical approaches to language learning. We will focus both on approaches to teaching literature, e.g., short stories or novels, and non-fiction, e.g., through Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL).
Literature will be announced a few weeks before the course begins.
In addition, class observations in school will be a required activity.
Students using this course to Foreign Language Acqusition will be given priority.
