The seminar is primarily for students at the MSc of
Economics
Enabling the student to
- understand the theory behind various health economic disciplines,
- use relevant scientific articles,
- apply an international perspective to health economic challenges,
- understand both the theory and practice behind pricing of medicine.
Main focus is
- the financing and structure of the medical, primary and secondary health care sector
- demand- and supply-side and problems related to individual, hospital, municipal, regional, state and societal perspective decision making.

Should user fees be implemented for services that are currently free of charge in General Practice?
Secondary sector e.g.:
Analysis of the financing and incitement structure in the Danish health care sector.
Alternative financing methods of the health care systems, e.g. use of Medical Savings Accounts.

Reimbursement and pricing of pharmaceuticals in Denmark. Decision-makers and influencers.
Health Technology Assessment and its use in reimbursement decisions.
Trade channels for market entry.

Pricing structure, trends and development.
The cost structure of research-based pharmaceuticals and reasons for price regulation.
Types of price regulation and their consequences.

Before the session a "so-finalized-as-possible"-draft of the paper must be uploaded in Absalon. After the presentations, the student submit an edited version of the paper in the Digital Exam portal as the final exam paper. The aim is that students use the presentation sessions as an opportunity to receive and use the constructive feedback to improve the paper.

February 8: Intro, presentation of participants and of idea catalogue to thesis subjects.
February 15: Participants presentation of project titles and ideas. Discussions and feedback. Working process initiated.
February 22: NO CLASS. Working process.
March 1: The first hour: Presenting titles, agreeing on which day who gives their presentation and who is moderator for who. The second hour. Presentation of curriculum by associate professor Niels Steenstrup Zeeberg, Questions and supervision of students.
March 8: Questions and supervision of students.
March 15: NO CLASS. Writing process.
March 22: NO CLASS. Writing process.
March 29: Presentation and critical evaluation of student 1, 2, and 3.
April 5: Presentation and critical evaluation of student 4, 5 and 6.
April 12: NO CLASS
April 19: Presentation and critical evaluation of student 7, 8 and 9.
April 26: Presentation and critical evaluation of student 10, 11 and 12.
May 3: Presentation and critical evaluation of student 13, 14 and 15.
May 10: Presentation and critical evaluation of student 16, 17 and 18 and if one has been cancelled and therefore delayed.
