Kursus har til formål at give en introduktion til social etik i
islam ved at følge dens idehistoriske udvikling. Der gives en
redegørelsen for etikkens grundlag og dens plads i islam i
relationen til andre islamiske discipliner – teologi,
retsvidenskab, filosofi og mystik.
Social etik præsenteres både i historisk og aktuel sammenhæng,
idet der bl.a. tages hensyn til dens betydning i et moderne
multireligiøst samfund. Som et forsøg på at imødekomme aktuelle
udfordringer, som muslimerne møder i de vestlige samfund, inddrages
der også nye etisk-teologiske perspektiver relaterende til anvendt
etik, ligestilling mellem kønnene osv.
Målet er at gøre studerende fortrolige med etiske begreber og
etiske teorier indenfor islam, samt at give dem en indsigt i og
forståelse for etikkens sociale og praktiske betydning i
muslimernes hverdagsliv.
