HSPK03861U Latinamerika-profilen: Sted, rum og identitet i Latinamerika

The main goal of this course is to work critically on concepts of identity and space in Latin America and the realities behind these constructions. This includes national, transnational and even transcontinental perspectives as well as the reading of hegemonic and subaltern narratives. In a transdisciplinary perspective we will approach topics as, for instance, the “invention” of the New World, the Constitutionalist and Independence Movements, Panamericanism, Bolivarianism, Hispanism and Lusotropicalism (in the last cases paying special attention to “race”-related theories). The broader analysis will be complemented by the study of national cases with a focus on Cuba and Brazil.
