The seminar is primarily for students at the MSc of
Economics
The purpose is to train students in applying classical and new models, approaches, and perspectives in Strategic Management on industries and organizations in order to come up with suggestions for top managers concerning actions for the long term development of the organization. In order to construct a budget or to evaluate the economic value of a company or to make investment decision regarding a company it is normally necessary to understand the corporate strategy of the corporation.
Topics:
An analyses of the future development and the economic attractiveness of a specific industry
An analyses of an organizations resources, activities and competences, and a discussion of how to create competitive advantages and economic value for that organization
The development of a competitive strategy and/or a growth strategy for a specific firm
The development of a corporate strategy for a specific corporation
The development of an international strategy or a strategy for innovation for a specific company
Strategic evaluation of a specific strategy for a company
Implementation of a specific strategy for an organization
“Exploring Strategy - Text and Cases - Tenth Edition”, by Johnson, Whittington, Scholes, Angwin & Regnér published by Pearson Education 2014.
Schedule Autumn (could be changed):
Meeting of agreement: 3th of September 2015 16.15-18.00
First individual supervision for half an hour: 18th of September 2015, 9.00-16.00
Second individual supervision for half an hour: 9th of October 2015, 9.00-16.00
The course is primary taught in English. If there is enought enrolled to both an English and a Danish seminar a class in Danish will be offered.
Schedule Spring (could be changed):
Meeting of agreement: 8th of February 2015 13-15
First individual supervision for half an hour: 17 February 2016
Second individual supervision for half an hour: 2 & 3 March 2016
The student prepares a seminar paper of max. 12 pages and present it orally.
Additionally the students conduct a critic on another paper. In the beginning of the process, there are two half hour individual meeting with the instructor of the seminar for supervision.

- Re-exam
Submission of a written assignmetn and an oral exam in which you may be examined in the presentations of the other students participating in the seminar during the enrolment period in question.
Criteria for exam assesment
The student must in a satisfactory way demonstrate that he/she has mastered the learning outcome of the course.
