Content
The course offer students at University of Copenhagen and other universities both inside and outside Denmark the opportunity to join a summer school about commercialisation and entrepreneurship in Copenhagen. Based on packets of related patents describing early inventions at an early stage students will learn about how to read a patent, how to make a market survey – to set up questionnaire & interview 
stakeholder/customers and to sum up of ideas to business area where patented technology can be used. They will be introduced to value creation & demand and work on qualifying concrete ideas on products/processes. They will be introduced to capital requirement & liquidity budget and work on writing a business plan. They wil learn how to present presenting the business plan as an elevator pitch.

Alexander Ostawalder: ”Business model canvas”, Koen et al.: ”Fuzzy Front End”, three patent packages (~150 pages) and two business plans.
Knowledge about chemistry at bachelor level from either nanoscience, chemistry, biochemistry or life sciences.
Lectures by different experts in the field, presentation of inventions and their patent packages, Internet search for novelty and other patent related information, Study of teaching material including reading of a patent package that second week form the IP content over which the business plan is written.
A limited understanding of science is required to read and understand the patent contents and associated business

Oral defence, 10 min
The students must produce a business plan: A minimum 5 pages project summary presenting their innovation (process, finance and concept) and an oral defence. Presentations as a sales pitch based on the business plan. There is no re-exam, the course has to be followed again the subsequent year.

Criteria for exam assesment
The business plan should be given in the day before the examn at 14.00 and should correspond to its content should relate to the course content and the description of the successful businessplan presented during the course. The presentation of the sales pitch should follow the recommendation and teaching provided during the course and demonstrate that the student has understood the innovation and its potential.
