After completing the course the students should be able to:
Knowledge:
- Be able to describe the pathogenesis of the most important life
style related non-communicable diseases (i.e the metabolic
syndrome, T2DM, CVD and cancer)
- Be able to describe the effects of life style (diet/nutrients,
sleep/stress and physical activity) on prevention and treatment of
some non-communicable diseases (including risk factors for these
diseases)
Skills:
- Be able to discuss and reflect on the effect of life style
(diet/nutrients, sleep/stress and physical activity) on prevention
and treatment of the most life style related non-communicable
diseases
- Be able to explain and discuss the mechanisms behind the
influence of life style (diet/nutrients, sleep/stress and physical
activity) on non-communicable diseases on a systemic as well as,
organ, tissue and cellular level
- Be able to critical read and understand the scientific literature
within the field
Competences:
- Be able to evaluate different risk factors for life style related
non-communicable diseases
- Be able to critical assess the effect of life style on risk
factors and development of life style related non-communicable
diseases
- Be able to recommend relevant life style changes based on the
evolution of the risk factors
Be able to teach the pathogenesis as well as the effect of life
style on prevention and treatment of life style related
non-communicable diseases on a scientific level
- Be able to communicate the pathogenesis as well as the effect of
life style on prevention and treatment of life style related
non-communicable diseases on a non- scientific
level
