Content
An independent research or review project or similar of variable length agreed on between students and Faculty teachers. Before the start of the course, together with a supervisor students write a two- to three-page description outlining specific details of the project, including requirements for academic content, objective, length, supplementary descriptions of specific academic outcome, language and assessment form. The course can be taken by students working independently on the project or by students working in groups. In the case of group work, it must be possible for the teacher to ascertain the individual’s contribution so that an individual assessment can be made.

The course duration can vary from 2.5-30 ECTS according to the agreement with the supervisor. Course assesment can be pass/fail or by 7-point grading scale.
Learning Outcome
The course aim is to give students the opportunity to independently plan and carry out an individual study motivated by academic and personal interests and in cooperation with a teacher from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The individualised study unit can be conducted in Denmark or abroad. The following description is a framework description that can be used in case of:
  • master’s students taking individualised elective courses,
  • projects carried out as part of a pharmaceutically relevant bachelor’s project different from the bachelor’s project in pharmacy (= an “alternative” bachelor’s project),
  • project-oriented courses as part of the master’s programme in pharmaceutical sciences, in which the student is stationed at a pharmaceutically relevant company, including a university, in Denmark or abroad
  • projects for Danish and foreign students who are not enrolled on a Faculty programme but who carry out a project with a supervisor from the Faculty.

At the end of the course, students should have increased:
  • Their academic insight and knowledge
  • Their independence with regard to planning and carrying out a large project.
Recommended litterature

Spelling and writing will be considered in the assessment of the bachelor’s project and can reduce it by maximum one grade. The written report must include an English summary, which will be considered in the total evaluation of the bachelor’s project.

The course can be taken in Danish or English. If the course is in English, the final examination must be taken in English as a minimum.
